Bard on the Beach explores this theme through comedy and song. Paradise Lost is a modern adaptation of a poem written by John Milton in the 17th century.

It tells the story of Adam and Eve and the struggle between good and evil. In the local Bard version Satan is also played by a woman. First performance of Paradise Lost in was going to be on July 2nd and the final one was to be on September 20th. In total, there were going to be about 25 shows over the course of the season. The play begins with Satan who has been kicked out of Heaven and confined to Hell. She is angry and looking for revenge. Adam, Eve and the infamous apple are also central to this story.

In addition to its usual Shakespearean plays, Bard on the Beach also offers a number of special events each season. These include extra evening choir and opera performances, as well as exclusive fireworks viewing nights. On July 29th, , for example, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra was scheduled to perform.

Also, on September 14th, there was to be an Opera and Arias event. The Bard-B-Q includes a play, barbecue dinner, live entertainment and views of the fireworks in English Bay. We do not mail tickets to student groups; they are only available for collection from the Box Office on the day of the performance.

This is to prevent any misplaced tickets, which can cause difficulties and delays for large student groups and may cause your students to miss parts of the performance. We generally seat groups together, however it may sometimes be necessary to split groups into different sections: sometimes we do this to better accommodate accessibility needs or to provide groups with more central seating.

Our shows use reserved seating, so we ask that you sit in the specific seats allocated to you and that chaperones sit among the students. Thanks to the support of our funders and Festival patrons, we have funds available to subsidize student group tickets through the Bard Education Bursary Fund. Although these funds are limited, we hope this will help make a trip to Bard on the Beach accessible to a wider audience of students and teachers.
