How much duck soup to feed ferret

Other people use a pressure cooker minutes at 15 pounds pressure seems to work well. The key to getting it very smooth is to cook until the bones crumble, then scoop out the solids and chill until cold save all the juice and fat separately. For some reason, the cold chicken and bones, etc. The ball should race around in a circle. Then add the warmed fat and juice slowly, mixing thoroughly between additions, until it is smooth and creamy.

I like to keep it pretty thick, but moist enough to pour out like cake batter. On the other hand, ferrets used to having the liver might balk at least at first if you leave it out. Pour the resulting goo into a big dish and continue processing the rest of the solids until done. Stir the goo in the big dish thereby evenly distributing bone, marrow, fat, etc. Set the stove to a medium low temperature. When water starts to boil, add raw drumstick to water, and let boil for 10 minutes.

While drumstick is boiling, take your eggs and two bowls, and separate the yolk, and the egg white. Ferrets should not eat egg white, because if ingested, this can result in hair loss. After chicken is done boiling, take it out and let it sit to cool. Make sure not to turn your stove off yet.

Your water should have some fatty oils floating on the surface. ALL my ferrets eat chicken and turkey, even those that are shelter adoptee's raised for years on cat chow. Once they get used to it, omit the kibble and grind the chicken so it is "lumpier. A really fun treat for ferrets that love this stuff is to put a tablespoon full in the bottom of an eggshell prior to serving.

That's how I give it to mine; each ferret gets a half an eggshell containing a tablespoon full of chicken gravy. They don't fight at the dish, they all get an equal share, and they can carry their eggshell to their favorite eating establishment. Now, I use a thickened gravy rather than a thin one, so usually the only cleanup is vacuuming small pieces of eggshell. Don't worry if they happen to eat some shell; it won't hurt them and the minerals will actually do some good.

Now, this isn't a replacement of anything your vet might prescribe, duck soup or any other food; its just something I use and highly recommend. But its not etched in stone either; if it is too rich for your ferret, take out some of the fat or oil.

If there is too much bulk, cut back on it. Make whatever adjustments you need for your individual ferret's needs. All rights reserved. What you do is suck up the goo into the syringe, scruff the ferret and squirt a little into the back of the mouth near the back tooth. Your ferret may very well put up a pretty big fight at first. Your vet will tell you when you should force feed, and probably will have recommendations on what to feed and how much.

You and your vet can discuss just how long to force feed before giving up. Remember, giving up means the ferret dies. So you squirt a little, let them swallow and some ferrets will spit a little out, too and just keep at it until the required amount has been swallowed. One caution: if your ferret starts to feel better, do not discontinue the supplemental feedings right away.
